While Bitmask Games is intended to be a space for learning to speak the creative language of video game development, it is also designed as an experiential community space. I intend to hold monthly Free Play events where people can come together to play, create, and social around new games.
Last Thursday, we had our first Free Play event. At this particular event, attendees got to be the first in the world to play a set of new games for the 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment System, all entries for our annual Byte-Off competition. This video is a quick look at the event.
